Organic shirts made sustainably
To obtain the ambition of designing an entire sustainable menswear clothing collection with focus on ethical fashion, we have specifically chosen a range of sustainable and organic fabrics whereby it is possible to make a varied and tasteful selection of shirts: all produced in Europe according to The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification.
GOTS is recognised as the worldwide leading standard for the manufacturing of organically produced natural fibers. It defines environmental requirements to a high level throughout the whole textile production chain and assures the product has been responsibly produced both socially and ethically. This underpins our aim of creating fashionable organic clothing.
Shirts in organic cotton
In addition to the benefits of choosing sustainable clothes in organic cotton fabric seen from an environmental point of view, organic cotton does have several other advantages.
Due to the high standards set by GOTS, organic cotton is known to have a better feel in terms of softness and comfort levels as the threads of the cotton have not been broken down nor damaged by chemicals used in the growing process. The organic approach and manufacturing processes makes the clothes appear soft, smooth to your skin and less receptive towards wear and tear. As a result, you will get a remarkably comfortable organic cotton shirt in a long-lasting high quality.
Organic linen shirts
Like cotton, linen is made from a natural raw material. In this case from the flax.
Linen fabrics are heavier than their cotton counterparts, but also stronger. They often feel crisper initially, although through time and use, linen fabrics become soft and gentle to touch. The strength of the fibers boasts longevity as well as high quality, both fundamental benefits of sustainable clothing.
The sustainable production also ensures a high level of garment comfort with the additional benefit of this established, recognised and high quality fabric.
TENCEL®
Organic clothes such as shirts made from Tencel (Lyocell) fabric is primarily known for its softness. But other features worth mentioning include it has a beautiful drape, it does not crease and holds its dye exceptionally well. It is also a breathable product and it allows moisture to be regulated by body temperature. These features are all particularly popular when producing shirts.
Printed shirts
In addition to the classic shirt used in offices all around the world, we have handpicked a few printed fabrics with different looks and patterns to bring variation and colour to the modern-basic wardrobe. These designs are all very discreet and understated to ensure, they can be used and adapted to changing wardrobes and seasons, yet remaining fashionable.
All our printed menswear shirts are ethically made with GOTS approved printing inks and the entire process is certified.
Striped shirts
To ensure exclusivity, we have diverted from the common way of producing striped shirts, whereby printed fabrics are used. At BY GARMENT MAKERS, we aim to produce our striped menswear shirts only by using only woven fabric. This process enhances the softness and comfort of the shirts, not to mention the obvious superior and visible differences of the final product, when comparing the two different production methods.
